How the fuck does one state go from a $100 billion surplus to a $73 billion deficit in roughly three years? Unless it was just on paper.
And states lose out on gas tax revenue the more fuel efficient cars get and the more hybrids and electrics that are on the road. Wouldn't be surprised to start seeing VMT taxes in the near future in some states.

Don't be so hard on my state and the Democrats running it. You ought to see our new bullet train! We spent billions on it! Billions of Federal $... The train is so sweet with full luxury seats, LA to SF in 40 mins, and it runs on unicorn farts.
