This always was heavily financed propaganda....
For example Kim is telling that South Korea wants to attack and occupy North Korea...
Eastern Germany: mantra that West might attack them with ground forces....
Therefore had heavily financed their KGB, spies and military....and propaganda & informants....till get country in condition that ruling Communists surrounded without any war...
U.S.S.R had built shelters and bunkers, heavily invested in propaganda, spies, informants, KGB, weapons and so on till collapsed....
Funny that ukrainians now are using bunkers and shelters built to protect from NAtO bombing....... However now they are used to protect them from Russian bombs, Iranian drones and North Korean shells and missiles....

I'm not in favour of downplaying the importance of Russian action in WW2 because they're currently getting it wrong in Ukraine under an inept leader like Putin.
The UK would have been removed from the board if Germany hadn't felt the need to pivot towards Russia, and that's exactly how Churchill recalls it, too, it's not rose-tinted bullshit. We were fucked, France had been lost, Germany should have rightly won the entire West of Europe but for pesky Britain being an island.
Soviet Russia didn't do anything on their own, naturally, but they're no more self-aggrandizing than the Yanks, who have made film after film about how they saved the day lol
USA entered the fray 'officially' much too late, just as many modern day Republicans would have them do the same again in the face of a Russian assault on Europe.
USA is a country that never learns from its mistakes but points the finger at everyone else. Fuck that. Just accept Soviet Russia won the day in WW2, causing Germany to panic and pivot. That's the truth of the situation.

While Ukr does have nuances: if guy still is in prison, he should voluntary apply...
While if guy already is pardoned and released from prison ...then they really might mobilize without cooperation and even if guy will tell NO.

Actually U.K didn't had been remowed completely off table ....because unlike Ukraine they had switched all nation on wartime economy mode and had dealt with mobilisiation and wartime laws and rules in 1 month. Also in Battle for Britain Germany had lost at least 2000 airplanes....and this is important because before 1940/1941 th Germany had used considerably more flying hours for pilots training than after this. So specialists trained longer and with more flying hours under belt before they had been used for war...
For example the same Poland Hitler had about deal with Stalin with secret protocols ....under table...not only had lesser number of air force, also ....let's be real, lesser trained pilots too.

For me this situation looks like this: Russia together with Belarus and Iran & North Korea dreaming about new world order.
BIC ( without R ) milking situation by trading with both sides and accumulating wealth and investments, building up military power and previous metals etc stockpiles and are happy.
China is getting stuff with discount from Russia under their terms and selling to Russia their stuff for higher prices than before war...for a reason, while keeping trading with West and does have profit from their choice.. and might torture Russia with some supplies too.
India and Brasil too...
Iran....
North Korea....
West in other kind had booster up weapons sales contracts etc stuff and game is serious.
